Can Officers be unfit to take the oath?
How can one take an oath to support the Constitution if that person is ignorant of the fundamental principles of the Constitution and form of government to which they are bound by its support? To what are they supporting? If they know not what they are supporting, by oath, then how can the oath and the taking of said oath be legitimate?
Article VI.
.....The Senators and Representatives before mentioned, and the Members of the several State Legislatures, and all executive and judicial Officers, both of the United States and of the several States, shall be bound by Oath or Affirmation, to support this Constitution; but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States. |
